Secretary for Education Committees and Quality Assurance Processes in Maastricht

The Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) is looking for a Secretary for Education Committees and Quality Assurance Processes – 0.6 FTE - 1.0 FTE. We are seeking an enthusiastic colleague with a passion for quality processes in education, who excels in administrative precision and has a collaborative attitude, to strengthen our team at the Education Support Office. Are you excited about the job description? Then apply now!

Job description

We are the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) at Maastricht University: the youngest science faculty in the Netherlands. After years of explosive growth, we are now proudly a community of more than 3,700 students and 460 staff members, spread across four cities in Limburg. We are ambitious, committed to both our education and research, and just a little bit rebellious. And now, we are looking for a Secretary for Education Committees and Quality Assurance Processes.

An EPC—what’s that all about? An EPC (Educational Programme Committee or Opleidingscommissie) is an official participatory body responsible for safeguarding the quality of our educational programmes. Each EPC is made up of students and staff. At FSE, we have 10 EPCs eagerly awaiting your organizational skills. You’ll schedule the meetings, take care of the minutes and archiving, and become the cornerstone of our institutional memory. You’ll support and facilitate the committees in such a way that they’ll soon be considering how big the statue in your honor should be.

Is this an administrative role? Absolutely—but your suggestions for process improvements will be greatly valued.

Is the work repetitive? Certainly—but the dynamic atmosphere of the faculty and your fantastic colleagues make it exciting.

Additionally, if time allows, you won’t hesitate to lend a hand to your colleagues at the Education Support Office. And let’s be clear: opportunities to leave your mark by optimizing our processes are always encouraged!

Before long, you’ll become someone who knows their way around the entire faculty, gaining a helicopter view that contributes to the ongoing professionalization of FSE.

  • Are detail-oriented and have a proactive, positive attitude towards administrative work;
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills in both Dutch and English (C1 level). (The working language of the committees is English, but policy documents and legislation are often in Dutch.);
  • Are sensitive to stakeholder interests and maintain a discrete attitude, handling confidential information appropriately;
  • Have an affinity for the education offered by FSE.
