You will teach students about the dynamic world of foodservice, food retail, gastronomy and hospitality, exploring its latest developments and trends. You also guide students in conducting research to deliver innovative, sustainable consultancy advice, developing product-market combinations, food concepts and more.
Staying up-to-date with industry developments and leveraging your network to bring real-world insights and assignments into the classroom is part of being an inspiring lecturer. Off course you contribute to the continuous development, digitization and innovation of our educational program. As a mentor and coach, you will help students grow both professionally and personally.
The foodservice industry thrives on creativity, agility, and innovation, continuously adapting to high consumer expectations for transparency, sustainability, and authenticity. In this role, you will empower students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate this dynamic field, shaping them into highly sought-after professionals in the industry.
A passion for student growth and industry knowledge is what truly matters. With the ability to inspire, coach and challenge students, an entrepreneurial mindset and a research-driven attitude.
You have a master’s degree (or the willingness to obtain one within 2 years) and relevant experience in foodservice, food retail, gastronomy or supply chains (from production and distribution to business and consumer). A strong knowledge of food trends, sustainability and consumer behavior will help you to be successful in the role as lecturer and coach. You want to pioneer new approaches and initiatives in the classroom and the subject. We suppose you are fluent in English and Dutch.
No formal teaching experience? HMSM will help you get up to speed and provide you with the training needed.
Why you’ll feel at home at HMSM?
You will be part of a vibrant and international community. Our students live and learn on campus, gaining hands-on experience at our Teaching Hotel. We believe in small-scale, personal education, where students and lecturers work closely together to shape the future of the hospitality industry. As a lecturer, you won’t just be an educator - you’ll be a mentor, role model and industry expert, guiding students as they develop into the next generation of foodservice leaders.
