Communications Officer - School of Business and Economics in Maastricht

Looking for an exciting communications job with lots of creativity and autonomy? We are in search of an internal communications officer who will help boost our internal community engagement.

In this role, you will be responsible for executing and monitoring internal communications activities within the School of Business and Economics, with the objective of building engagement among staff and fostering a collaborative, transparent and engaging work environment.

You will join an international, dynamic team of 11 people responsible for marketing, recruitment and communications at the School of Business and Economics.

As an internal communications officer, your main tasks will include the following:

• Ensure that the School’s key initiatives and projects are successfully communicated within the organisation.
• Act as the community manager for the staff intranet.
• Develop content to support internal communication activities (news items, videos, podcasts, visuals for screens, etc.).
• Together with the other communication officers, manage the School’s social media platforms.
• Support with internal communication response to crisis situations.

Requirements

• At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position; experience in internal communication is an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge and experience with online tools/platforms and with content creation.
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
• Ability to understand organisational functions, roles and communication requirements, to enable the design of contextualised and tailored content for internal audiences.
• Experience with website/platform design.
• Experience with using design applications (e.g. Canva, InDesign, Photoshop).
• Excellent team player.
• Fluent in English (writing and speaking) and proficiency in Dutch preferred.
• Relevant HBO+ level or university degree.
  
  

What we offer

As communications officer at School of Business and Economics, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

• Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 9 according to UFO profile Communications Officer, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3377,00 and €4640,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
• An employment contract via InterUM for a period of 6 months with a scope of 0.6 FTE.
• At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added.
